Felting a landscape
Judith Dios’ creations are one-of-a-kind, wearable works of art!
The piece shown here is more than reminiscent of a fine art watercolour painting. Using a unique process called nuno felting that she has, in many ways, reinvented, Judith bonds fine Merino wool and pure silk and an array of luxurious fibres, resulting in shimmering gossamer felted creations.
Seeing every project as an opportunity for innovation and exploration, Judith may (or may not) begin with un-dyed fibres and finish by hand-painting each piece after the felting stage is complete. Experimentation has led to layers of silk laid under and over the wool and embellished with hand-spun silk yarns, resulting in an astonishing three-dimensional textural landscape.
Her creations are a sumptuous new fabric that is lightweight, sheer and elegantly drapeable. These pieces will surely be cherished as a gift for yourself or someone you love.
